In Sacramento today, where the Assembly Environmental (ESTM) Committee is hearing from the legendary Dolores Huerta on the harms to farmworkers from paraquat, which carries a "one sip can kill" warning, is banned in 60+ countries, and is strongly linked to Parkinson's.
Assembly Bill 1963 would impose a moratorium while DPR conducts a reevaluation. It's been on DPR's priority list since 2011 but still no reevaluation begun.
Once again, the legislature has to remind DPR to do its job
California adopts a climate plan which includes a goal of 20% organic agriculture by 2045, and interim goals to get there. Currently just 4% of CA ag land is farmed organically

California state agencies released new targets today for scaling nature-based climate solutions across California’s diverse landscapes, including agricultural lands. The targets and the government agency actions to support them were developed as a requirement of Assembly Bill 1757 (C. Garcia).Consumer Reports: "One of the most effective and simple steps the EPA could take to reduce overall pesticide risk would be to ban the use of any organophosphate or carbamate on food crops."
